BRUNCH

Where to go and what to order when you've got time to enjoy every. single. bite. Brunching (yeah, I just made that into a gerund) requires patience, persistence, and practice--plus you get to enjoy champs while doing it! (What's not to love?)

Too many times to count | Magnolia Cafe Soco | 24-hours! Brunch is all day, err day here
Flip the menu book over and get an omelette. My personal favorites are the Vegetarian w/ Sausage & the Popeye. Anything with avocado, I've ordered it and never been disappointed. People also dig the LOVE Migas.

July 2011 | Ann Sather Restaurant
I can't quite remember what I ordered, but two selling points: BYOB. Don't leave without getting cinnamon rolls.

July 2011 | TOAST Lincoln Park |
I ordered the Steel Cut Oats with brown sugar and apples and the grilled chicken sausage stuffed with apples and gouda. With menu items like 'Pancake Orgy' and 'Crabby Benedict,' I'd definitely return. Cute, homey, slender interior (tables in a row from entrance to kitchen, single filed with one solid booth bench running the length of the restaurant) and everyone treats you like you're eating breakfast in their home. Great brainstorming sessions happened here.

I ordered the Wild Goat Cheese and Mushroom Omelette and wasn't that impressed. The only reason I've planned a return visit is for The Fried Egg Sandwich with Truffle Chips -- might as well be called the 'Spanglish' sandwich because it's exactly what Adam Sandler makes after he reads Tea Leoni's note 'not to wait up for him' because she's cheating on him with the skeezy realtor who found them the summer beach house. This fancy-pants breakfast BLT is worth the trip.

August 2012 | Le Pavillon Hotel Crystal Ballroom | Sunday Champagne Brunch 8:30 AM - 1 PM
Best. Brunch. Ever. All other brunches before this were mere training sessions; it was the ultimate event. We decided to go to NOLA for a quick summer getaway and landed a great deal on room at the Le Pavillon Hotel. Extremely luxe--we lounged around in freshly laundered bathrobes for the first day of our stay, after cooling off on the rooftop pool. After doing some preliminary research before departure, we discovered that Le Pavillon not only offered PB&J sandwiches with milk and hot cocoa each night at 10PM but also held an infamous Sunday brunch in the Crystal Ballroom. If we were going to spend $40 on brunch, we were going to make it worthwhile. Naturally, we had a three-hour brunch. And the best part about it was, the servers totally understand! We had the sweetest man, Walter, who took great care of us and let us know that Oprah Winfrey had been by earlier in the month to film scenes of 'The Butler,' and any mention of O gets me giddy like a schoolgirl.
